About the event
FUQUAY-VARINA, NC – The Hiester Cares Foundation proudly announces the return of its signature fundraising event — the 5th Annual Hiester Cares 5K Run/Walk for Suicide Prevention!
One of the largest singular 5K fundraising events in Central North Carolina will taking place on the morning of Saturday, November 14, 2026, at Fuquay-Varina High School.
Founded by Hiester Automotive Group in 2020, the Hiester Cares Foundation is dedicated to improving access to mental health resources and creating opportunities for underprivileged youth throughout North Carolina. Over the past four years, the Hiester Cares 5K has grown into one of the area's premier charitable events, raising more than $450,000 to support organizations including the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), YMCA youth mentoring programs, Military Missions in Action, and other community-based initiatives.
This year's event will once again feature a USATF-certified 5K course located entirely on the campus of Fuquay-Varina High School. The family-friendly route consists primarily of wide, flat sidewalks and is designed for runners and walkers of all ages and fitness levels. Awards will be presented to the top male and female finishers in multiple age divisions.
"For five years, the Hiester Cares 5K has brought our community together around a cause that impacts so many families, including our own. We are incredibly proud of the lives we've touched, the awareness we've raised, and the partnerships we've built, and we remain committed to ensuring that every dollar raised helps provide hope, support, and resources to those who need them most."
— John Hiester, Owner & CEO, Hiester Automotive Group
